Colors:
Orange, Brown, Ivory & a splash of Green! We are using the Japanese Garden to set our color palette, along with incorporting rocks and wood into our scheme. The koi fish inspired the orange, yellow and red. The bridge where we will exchange vows inspired the brown and wood, and all the trees around inspired the green.

Photographer:
Engagement photos were with Taipei-LA. You can see our engagement photos under gallery.

Wedding photos will be taken by Danielle of Skye Blu Photography.

Ceremony:
We are having a "small" ceremony at this Japanese Garden.
It will be family & closest friends only... which is still 200 people. And this is no children too!

Light reception immediately to follow at the garden. We're having tea sandwiches and a Chocolate fountain. yum!

Banquet:
We are having a traditional chinese banquet in the evening.
On the menu:
BBQ platter w/ roasted suckling pig
Sauteed prawns w/ honey glazed walnuts
Panfried Scallops
Shark's Fin soup
Abalone w/ garden vegetables
Peking Duck
Maine Lobster
Steamed Fresh Fish
Fried Rice
Mango Pudding
Wedding cake (chocolate & raspberry!)
.
We just found out that we can only have 40 tables instead of the 50 tables we originally thought. It's going to be tight!

We are hiring a lighting designer to vamp up the restaurant. Our lighting designer is Lighten Up Inc.

I wanted to have a cookie bar, but Jonathan found a great deal on candy, so we're going to do a candy bar instead now.

Cake:
5 tier hexagon cake from Porto's Bakery in Glendale. Off White buttercream with brown ribbon around the bottom of each layer and fresh orange asiatic lilies. Black magic w/ raspberry filling. mmm... chocolate.

DIY Invitations:
We have to make We MADE 200 of these suckers! Couldn't have done it without my MOHs! Good thing we have a pretty good assembly line going on. :) We're just getting them ready to be sent out now.

Box purchased from PaperMart. If you live in LA, you can go pick up to save on shipping cost!

I went to the post office to mail them today and the lady had me postmark them myself! She just handed over the official USPS postmark stamp and asked me to go ahead and just postmark them all.

Works out for the best though b/c if they did it, they would've just ran it through the machine, which would've resulted in the ugly black postmark w/ the squiggly lines. instead, the invites now have the classic red circular postmark. much more appealing!

I love the idea that each invite was personally hand stamped by me! lol. so when you receive it in the mail, just picture me standing in the post office hand stamping the pile of invites! :D

Programs:
Printed on Linen cardstock with a stained dark wood handle:

Escort Cards:
Instead of numbering our tables, we named each of our tables with a Chinese character.

Bridesmaid Dresses:
I sewed the bridesmaid dresses! :) It looks way better on P & D than on this dress form, but my dress form was the only one around at the time I was taking pictures. :P

Shoes:
Shoes I was going to wear, but my dress was hemmed too long, so I can't wear these anymore.

Shoes I will wear:

Jewlery:
I made all my own jewlery using Swarovski crystals and Sterling Silver wires.

Hair:
First hair piece:

I think I have settled on hair...

Or like this...

My hair trial:

I don't like it much. I'm going to ask for a lower do.

Makeup:
Tania is doing my makeup!
Here is my makeup by TESS for our e-pics. She's awesome!!

Flowers:
I like these two bouquets, but I want orange flowers with a dark bamboo handle.

The Ring!
Jonathan picked this out all by himself! It touched me so much that he did all the research on his own to surprise me. I didn't even know anything about diamonds. :P Solitare on a Platinum diamond band from Tiffany, shown with my wedding band. I originally wanted to get an eternity band, but the sales guy at south coast said that I'll get fat and you can't resize eternity bands. So I ended up getting this shared setting band in half circle. I know they don't match, but I really didn't like how the matching channel set band looked together with my ring. And this shared prong band is so much cuter! Something I would enjoy wearing on it's own down the line much more than the channel set band.

We finally bought our rings during our Vegas trip! :) He was certain that he wanted the Etoile ENGAGEMENT ring (not wedding band), but in the end decided that it did not look right on a guy. He ended up going with the Lucida band instead. He had to have a diamond too. :P

Words for Ceremony:
i give you this ring as an symbol of health
for you have healed me
for joy
for you have filled my life with laughter
As a guide
for you have shown me the way to unselfish love
And greatest of all
As a symbol of my love
For like this ring it will never end

You are my best friend and the one I want to share my life with.
I will love you forever, and under all circumstances.
I will stand by you always.
I will have faith in you and encourage you in everything you do.
I will be here to listen to you, to laugh with you, and to hold you.
I will work with you as we build a life together,
And I will support you as you live your own independent life.
I will strive every day to make our relationship stronger.
I will be your friend, your love, and your partner for all the days of our lives

I do…
Want to laugh with you,
Learn with you,
Grow with you. I do…
Want to be with you All my life through,
For I love you with all of my heart,
And today I’m so happy to tell you…
I do

- The little things are the big things. It is never being too old to hold hands. It is remembering to say "I love you" at least once a day.
- It is never going to sleep angry. It is at no time taking the other for granted; the courtship should not end with the honeymoon, it should continue through all the years.
- It is having a mutual sense of values and common objectives. It is standing together facing the world. It is forming a circle of love that gathers in the whole family. It is doing things for each other, not in the attitude of duty or sacrifice, but in the spirit of joy.
- It is speaking words of appreciation and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways. It is not expecting the husbnad to wear a halo or his wife to have wings of an angel. It is not looking for perfection in each other. It is cultivating flexibility, patience, understanding, and a sense of humor. It is having the capacity to forgive and forget. It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow.
- It is finding room for the things of the spirit. It is a common search for the good and the beautiful. It is establishing a relationship in which the independence is equal, dependence is mutual, and the obligation is reciprocal. It is no only marrying the right partner, it is being the right partner.

I was bummed when my dress ended up being a good 2 inches too big, but luckily, I was able to alter my own dress! Yay! Still need to press the ribbon. I knew the lighting would be awful, but DC was over and I had to take advantage of the opportunity to have a picture taken.

I've trimmed the ribbon since this picture:

If anyone is interested in this sash, I had purchased extra just in case I needed it. I ended up only using one, so if you're interested in a 4", Sable-colored, double-faced, Swiss satin ribbon, let me know. It's really high quality and not the cheapy stuff.

I bustled my own dress!
